Your Yogi Note: Shifting from Lack to Abundance – Overcoming Procrastination with a Yogic Mindset 🌿✨

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe

Hello lovelies,

Lately, I’ve found myself tangled in the web of procrastination—that familiar cycle of postponing tasks, feeling overwhelmed, and convincing myself that I don’t have enough time, energy, or motivation. Can you relate?

At the heart of this struggle is something deeper than just a lack of productivity. It’s the mindset of lack—the belief that we’re missing something essential before we can take action. We tell ourselves we need more time, more inspiration, more energy. But what if the answer isn’t waiting for more? What if it’s shifting how we see what we already have?

Yoga, in its infinite wisdom, offers us a way to break free from the scarcity trap and step into a mindset of abundance, flow, and purpose. So, let’s explore how to move from stagnation to momentum, using our practice as a guide.

Why Do We Procrastinate?

Procrastination isn’t laziness. More often than not, it’s a reaction to fear, perfectionism, or overwhelm. Sometimes, we delay action because we’re afraid of failing. Other times, it’s because we feel drained before we even begin. And then there are moments when we get stuck because the goal seems too big, too impossible, too far away.

Sound familiar? Here’s the truth: waiting for the “perfect moment” or the “right mindset” only deepens the cycle. Yoga teaches us that the present moment is enough and that we already have everything we need to take the next step—however small.

Shifting from Lack to Abundance

One of yoga’s core teachings is Aparigraha—the practice of non-attachment and trust insufficiency. It reminds us to let go of grasping for something outside of ourselves and instead recognise the abundance within and around us.

  • Instead of “I don’t have enough time,” try: “I have all the time I need to begin.”
  • Instead of “I don’t feel motivated,” try: “I will move first, and motivation will follow.”
  • Instead of “I don’t know where to start,” try: “I trust that the first step will lead to the next.”

When we make this shift, we stop waiting for the perfect conditions and start flowing with what is already available to us.

The Yoga of Action: Tapas & Discipline

In yoga philosophy, Tapas refers to self-discipline and the inner fire that fuels action. But discipline in yoga isn’t about forcing or punishing ourselves—it’s about commitment to growth.

Just like we show up on the mat, even when we don’t feel like it, we can show up in life with small, intentional actions. The first few steps might feel difficult, but movement creates energy. The more we move, the more momentum we build.

Try This: Next time you feel stuck, set a timer for just five minutes and start. Five minutes of writing, organizing, stretching—whatever it is you’ve been avoiding. Often, just beginning is enough to dissolve resistance.

Mindful Movement: A New Way to Find Flow (and a new Sunday morning class)

Sometimes, breaking through procrastination isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about softening into movement. Our bodies hold tension, resistance, and even emotional blocks that can keep us stuck. That’s why mindful movement is such a powerful way to shift energy, release stagnation, and reconnect with flow.

I’m so excited to share that we are introducing a new class designed to support this very practice:

🌀 Ripples of Being - a class based on the principles of embodied flow.
This class is an invitation to move beyond structure and into sensation. It blends mindful movement, breath awareness, and intuitive flow to help you release tension, reconnect with your body, and cultivate a deeper sense of presence. It’s perfect for those feeling stuck, restless, or looking for a way to unlock creativity through movement.

The first class starts this Sunday morning at 9.30am.

If you’ve been feeling stagnant—physically or mentally—this class might be just what you need to rediscover ease, movement, and presence.

Using Breath & Movement to Shift Stagnation

Procrastination often lives in the body as well as the mind. Feeling stuck? Get moving. Shallow breathing? Inhale deeper. Feeling foggy? Change your posture.

Here are two simple ways to break through mental and physical stagnation:

  1. Energizing Breathwork (Kapalabhati – Skull-Shining Breath):
    • Take a deep inhale, then forcefully exhale through the nose in quick bursts, engaging your core.
    • Do this for 30 seconds, then pause and notice the shift in your energy.
    • Here's a video on how to do it :)
  2. Flow Over Force:
    • Step onto your mat and move intuitively—no structure, no rules. Flow like water. Let movement clear the mental fog and reconnect you to a state of ease.

When we bring the body into motion, we shift the mind’s state, allowing clarity and energy to return.

From Stagnation to Flow

The truth is, action doesn’t require perfection—only presence. The practice of yoga reminds us that every breath, every pose, every small step matters. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.

So if you’ve been procrastinating (like I have), consider this your gentle nudge. Take a deep breath. Release the weight of “not enough.” Trust that the smallest action will create the momentum you seek.

I’ll meet you there.
