"Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again."
— Joseph Campbell
Hey lovely,
It's been a few weeks since I've been able to work up the enthusiasm to write another Yogi Note.
It seems I've been in a bit of a funk, but thankfully I feel like I'm coming back into the light again :)
Maybe you can relate...
How are you doing? Really.
This time of year can feel a little in-between, can’t it? We had some wild weather and we’ve moved through the stillness of the solstice, we’ve set (or let go of) our intentions, and now we find ourselves slowly surfacing, blinking into the light, wondering how to begin again.
And maybe even feeling a little exhausted at the thought!
I’ve been thinking about this space we’re in. This space of returning.
Not returning to busy-ness or expectations (hopefully)… but something quieter.
More sacred.
Returning to ourselves.
It's like a giant exhale, where we can let go of disappointments, worry, stress, and all the expectations we've heaped upon ourselves.
The Gentle Practice of Coming Home
Yoga has always been my anchor when I’ve felt scattered or ungrounded. Not because I’m doing elaborate poses or perfect sequences (let’s be honest, some days it’s just child’s pose and breathing), but because it invites me back to myself.
Every inhale, every stretch, every time I roll out my mat, it whispers,
“You’re here. You’ve arrived. This moment is enough.”
And maybe that’s what this season is calling for: not big leaps, but soft landings.
Not striving, but reconnecting.
What Are You Reconnecting With?
You might be reconnecting with your breath.
Or your body after some time away.
Maybe your yoga practice, your sense of routine, your creativity, or your sense of joy.
Whatever it is, know this: you don’t have to rush. You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment, either.
You can begin exactly where you are, with exactly what you have.
That’s the beauty of yoga, it meets you at the door.
And if you’ve been feeling a little disconnected lately (from yourself, from others, from life), yoga can gently lead you back.
Back to your centre.
Back to your truth.
Back to the quiet, steady place inside that never really left.
A Little Invitation
So if it’s been a while since you moved or meditated or took five minutes just to breathe, maybe this is your reminder:
You’re allowed to begin again.
You’re allowed to come home. To you!
The Yoga Pantry is always open in one way or another, and it would be so lovely to welcome you back into the flow, whether that’s through a soft yin class, a grounding slow flow, a 20-minute meditation or just resting in savasana with your hand on your heart.
The path of reconnection is always open. And we’ll be right here, walking it with you.
