Your Yogi Note - Finding Light in the Winter Darkness

“In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus 🌞

Hey lovely,

Today is the Winter Solstice the longest night of the year (yay sleepy time and introverts Christmas 😂) and the turning point toward light. There’s something beautifully poetic about this day: a quiet stillness, a deep pause, and a reminder that even in the darkest moment, the return of the sun is already underway.

I always think of the solstice as the exhale of the year. A natural moment to soften. To reflect. To honour what’s been. And maybe to let go of what no longer needs to be carried.

Nature’s Invitation to Go Inward

Everything around us right now is slowing down. The trees have shed their leaves, animals are in hibernation mode, and even the earth feels like it’s taking a long, restorative breath. And yet… we often fight this seasonal rhythm. We rush, we scroll, we fill every spare moment.

But yoga teaches us another way.

This is the season of pratyahara, the drawing in of the senses. A time for restorative practices (luckily, we have a restorative session next Sunday) deeper reflection, and longer savasanas. A time to remember that slowing down isn’t laziness, it’s wisdom.

The solstice reminds us that stillness has power. That the pause between the inhale and the exhale is sacred. That going inward is where the real transformation begins.

Yoga, Darkness & Light

In yogic philosophy, we honour both darkness and light not as opposites, but as necessary parts of the same whole. Darkness is where the seeds rest before they sprout. It’s where dreams incubate, where ideas brew, where we meet ourselves fully.

So tonight, maybe wrap yourself in a warm blanket. Light a candle. Roll out your mat. Move slowly. Or don’t move at all. Breathe. Reflect. Listen. Ask gently: What am I ready to let go of? What’s quietly trying to be born in me?

And then trust, as the ancient yogis did, that the light will return. It always does.

Restorative Yoga Workshop

Your beloved 2 hours of restorative yoga is back on the last Sunday of June! That's this coming sunday!@!!

Restorative yoga is a completely different experience from most other styles of yoga. Restorative yoga is a restful practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. If you take a restorative class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures over the course of the session. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasises the meditative aspect of yoga, the union of body and mind. Through the use of props for support, many of the postures are held almost effortlessly.

Head here to book your sessions and join Tash for a restful evening of deep relaxation.

AND due to popular demand, our Sound Bath is back for the last Sunday of July!!!!

THIS is the day for you to immerse yourself in a luxurious sound experience. Soak in the tones of Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, rain sticks, wind chimes, hand drums and gongs.

Let me transport you to a lovely tropical Island. Come on in and rest your weary soul.
